Francis Albert Sinatra known famously as Frank Sinatra, is the first figure in a series of portraits featuring some of the world’s most iconic musicians. Frank Sinatra was known for his powerful vocal presence, impressive dress sense and is hailed as the most prominent American singers of the 20th Century. With bright blue eyes he earned the nickname ‘Ol Blue Eyes’, this portrait honours that nickname colour through his eyes of course but also the flat background. Through his acting career he quickly became associated with other big name acts of the 1960s, namely Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop who came to be called the Rat-Pack. Sinatra quickly became lauded for his positive views of black people during a time when the United States was still heavily segregated.
