A practice illustration that allowed for the study of aquatic depth and the movement of koi fish close to the surface of murky water. The design composition made use of repetition, asymmetry, scale and of course direction. The main objective was to somehow capture the impression of the koi being underwater rather than at the surface, achieved through rippling patterns and dynamic colour contrasts. Meant to convey energy, free expression and tranquility. Inspired by the baroque, sumi-e, expressionism and surrealism art movements.
